Farhat Jah is a photographer based in Pemba Tanzania.
When we say based, we mean just that. Farhat's parents
come from Turkey (75%) and India (25%). Consequently
he finds himself in Turkey many times a year,
wandering through the mountains of the East and
Centre.
For eight months of the year he can be found working
in East Africa. He and his wife (to be), Cisca,
operate specialist bush walking safaris, and a dive
resort on the Island of Pemba.
Farhat and Cisca spend the other four months of the
year on "safari". Sefer, comes from the Turkish word,
Journey, a "seferi " is a traveller. That is what they
are. Travellers who wanders Africa in a battered
Landrover, across sections of desert with camels or
through the Himalayas in a pair of badly fitting
boots. (Farhat is almost completely flat footed).
Farhat writes articles and shoots photo essays for
various motoring and geo-travel magazines. He and
Cisca, (a proficient anthropologist) also run three
specialised "PHOTO SAFARIS" a year in Tanzania. For
more information see "photographic holidays and
tuition".
He also loves to write letters, so if you have a query
about anything Turkish, African, photographic or about
Landrovers,
drop him a line to :
